
It’s time to kick off summer reading! This year we’re celebrating the ways in which books and libraries Color Our World, and offer a lineup of fun activities and story times for you to join! You can register for any of these programs in person, by phone (814-445-4011) or by using our online form. We’re excited to kick off Summer Reading and hope you’ll help us Color Our World!
Toddler/Preschool and Kindergarten Storytime (June 10th & 17th, July 1st & 8th)

Are you ready to Color Our World with summer reading? Join the Biesecker Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 am this summer for Toddler, Preschool and Kindergarten stories, songs and games! This story time meets on June 10th and 17th, and July 1st and 8th.
NEW! Tales of Tails: Stories With Susan and Her Furry Friend (June 10th, July 8th and August 12th)

Join us on the second Tuesday each month this summer for a special Tales of Tails story event featuring Susan Wilson and a friendly shelter pet from the Humane Society of Somerset County! Tales of Tails will be held on June 10th, July 8th and August 12th at 10:30 am. Children of all ages and their families are welcome to join us for stories, activities and a chance to make a new, furry friend.
Budding Gardeners (Thursdays in June)

We’re proud to announce the return of Budding Gardeners for summer 2025! Budding Gardeners is a collaboration with the Penn State Master Gardeners of Somerset County to teach the basics of gardening to kids grades K-5. This free program will be held at the library on Thursdays, June 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
SFSP Youth Cafe (Thursdays in June)

The Summer Youth Café is a federally-funded child nutrition program that provides free and healthy meals while schools are on summer break. We’re proud to host the Pittsburgh Food Bank‘s SYC program here at the library on Thursdays at 11:15, after our weekly Budding Gardeners program. Make sure to note that you want lunch when you sign up for Summer Reading!
Summer Reading for Grades 1-5 and Teens (June 9th-July 12th)

Children in Grades 1-5 and Teenagers are also invited to join us for Summer Reading! Children Grades 1-5 can stop by the library to register, pick up a bingo card of books and activities for the summer, then return it before July 12th to win a free book! Teen Summer Readers can fill out a teen book review for their chance to win a free book! Register in person or using our online form!
Beanstack Summer Online Reading Challenge (June 1-July 31)
