Summer Reading 2024: Adventure Begins At Your Library

We’re excited to announce the return of Summer Reading for 2024! The theme this year is “Adventure Begins at Your Library,” encouraging children, teens and adults to enjoy the exciting adventures that you can experience by reading a book. Check out this year’s programs!

Toddlers, preschoolers and students grades K-1 (and their parents) can join us on Tuesdays in June and July at the Mary S. Biesecker Public Library.

Budding Gardeners
Grades K-5

Thursdays June 6, 13, 20 and 27 10 -11am

Come and learn the basics of gardening with Penn State Master Gardeners of Somerset County!   Sign up online, by phone (814-445-4011), or at the library. 

SFSP Youth Café at 11am. (Please sign up when registering for the program)

As a participant in the Summer Youth Cafe Program, we will serve free lunch from 11am – 12 noon on Thursdays after Budding Gardeners. Lunches are provided by the Summer Food Service Program of the Pittsburgh Food Bank. 

SUMMER READING FOR OLDER KIDS AND TEENS (G2-12)
June 20-July 25, 2023

We also invite older kids and teens to take part in our reading program! These  programs run from June 11-July 9. 

Grades 2-5: Register at the library and pick up your reading bingo card. Complete it and return it to the library for a free book!

Teens (Grades 6-12): Register at the library.  Read at least one book and fill out a teen book review.  Turn in your review to the library to win a free book!
