The MSBPL is participating in DASH for the STASH, a multi-state investor education and protection program and contest for the public to learn about investing and possibly earn entry into a drawing to win a $1,000.00 IRA. The PA Department of Banking and Securities in partnership with the Investor Protection Institute is offering this contest at various times and locations from April 1 to October 31, 2017.
The DASH for the STASH contest is played much like a scavenger hunt, but instead of collecting objects, individuals collect information about saving and investing and leave answers to quiz questions. To enter the contest, visit the Mary S. Biesecker Public Library and read the four contest posters (and one rules poster). You can access the quiz questions by smart phone, tablet, laptop, or the library’s public computer. One statewide winner will be chosen in a random drawing of eligible participants who answered the quiz questions for all four posters correctly. That winner will receive a $1,000 contribution to an existing or new Individual Retirement Account (IRA). (Participants must provide proof of eligibility to contribute to an IRA for 2017.)
Mary S. Biesecker Public Library will have the posters on display from July 5 – August 31. Anyone needing assistance in learning how to participate can visit the library on July 5 from 4pm – 6 pm.
New in 2017 and running independently of the poster version of the contest, there will be a national online DASH for the STASH contest open to all members of the public. The national online version runs through October 31st and operates in a video game format. National participants will have the opportunity to compete in an online version of the DASH for a chance to win one of seven $150 IRA contributions.
